This is a picture of my dad, James Okeley sitting next to his mother, Olive Pelsor Okeley. His sister, June Okeley is standing behind them. They are attending a yearly social gathering for the deaf and hearing impaired community at Washington Park in Michigan City, Indiana. Both my grandmother and grandfather we're deaf. It is kind of hard to tell, but Lake Michigan is in the background to the left. There are boats in the water. The picture was probably taken in the mid 1940's, my dad was born in 1943 and he looks to be about 3 or 4 years of age in this photo.
