Postcard photo of the observation car of the "Lackawanna Limited" of the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad. The woman standing on the car's platform in white appears to represent Phoebe Snow, the fictional character the railroad created to publicize that since they burned anthracite (hard) coal, it was cleaner-burning, thus the light or white clothing of travelers stayed free from cinders and soot. Phoebe Snow always wore a corsage of violets pinned on her left. The woman pictured on the card has a violet corsage on her left.
