Captain Bernard Sweet was born in 1919 in Rushford, Allegany County, New York and served with the 406th Fighter Group as a pilot/flight commander.

Bernard died March 25, 1945, and is listed as KIA. He is buried at American War Cemetery Margraten.

He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster.
