Captain Charles D Hewes was born in 1921 in Biloxi, Harrison County, Mississippi and served with the 4th Fighter Group as a pilot.

Charles died February 13, 1945, and is listed as DOI. He is buried at American War Cemetery Ardennes.

He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster.
