Harrodsburg Herald, Harrodsburg, Kentucky, Thursday, July 5, 1906 (sub 'BURRUS - DEATH SUMMONS'): "Comes to one of Mercer's Most Substantial Citizens. Mr. Edmund Burrus, one of the most prominent citizens of the Salvisa neighborhood, died Monday morning, aged 83 years. He had been in failing health for a year, among his other sufferings being almost blind. He was a very devout man, one of the most liberal and substantial members of the Baptist church at Salvisa, and the superintendent of the Sunday school. He lived his Christianity in his daily life, and because of his strict honesty and integrity he was looked up to and respected by all. Among those who mourn him most sincerely are his neighbors, men who have tried his friendship and have reason to know the strength and staunchness of his character. In early manhood he was married to Miss Miller, from Columbia, Adair county, who still survives him, and the bond between them only grew stronger as the years went by. He was buried at the Burrus graveyard Tuesday morning the funeral services being held in the Salvisa Baptist church that he loved so well and served so generously and faithfully."
