Baughman Sr

1750 - October 17, 1782

In "Kentucky, A History of the State", published in 1887, in a statement given by Joel Baughman. He states that his grandfather, Henry Baughman, Sr. was killed giving his relatives a chance to escape when Indians opened fire on the group about eight miles above Crab Orchard. Among those killed were: Margarethe Baughman Ferrill and her husband, Jonathan Ferrill; , Jacob Baughman and Hans Henrich Baughman. Margaretha Schwizier Baughman – the attack occurred October 17, 1782.

The children born to Henry, SR., were Nancy (Gilbreath), Ticia (Duncan), Polly (McGill), Jacob and John (both killed at St. Clair's defeat), and Henry, Jr. Henry, Jr., married Patience, daughter of William Owsley, of Lincoln County (born 1784, died 1842) and to them were born Hamilton, William O., Rebecca (Shanks), Jacob, John, Henry, Samuel O., Nancy (Dunn), Nudiget O., and Joel T. Joel T. Baughman was married July 19, 1849, to Miss Sallie, daughter of Isaac and Cyrena (Wooly) Dunn, of Garrard County, born February 20, 1833,
