Civil War Confederare Army Officer. Served during the Mexican War as Captain and commander of Company A, 2nd Kentucky Infantry. At the outbreak of the Civil War he raised and was named Captain and commandeder on Comonay A, 2nd Kentucky (CSA) Infantry. He was promoted to Colonel and commander of the unit, which was part of the famous Kentucky “Orphan” Brigade, in October 1863, and led it throughout the Atlanta Campaign of 1864. He was mortally wounded during the Battle of Jonesboro on August 31, 1864, and he died later in enemy captivity.
