Sergeant John Barna was born in 1923 in Smithdale, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania and served with the 120th Infantry Regiment.

John died November 11, 1944, and is listed as KIA. He is buried at American War Cemetery Margraten.

He was awarded the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster.
