Mrs. Margaret Nichols, wife of Mr. W.M. Nichols, died Friday night at her home on the McCoun's Ferry Road, near Salvisa. She was a splendid woman, beloved by all who knew her.
Mrs. Nichols was the daughter of William and Mary Southern and was born October 10, 1859. She united with the church at the age of eighteen years, at Oregon, under the preaching of Rev. Deering, placing her membership at Clay's Lick Church where she has been a consistent member for nearly forty-four years.
She was married to Mr. W. M. Nichols May 13,1875, and to this union thirteen children were born, eleven of whom are living, as follows: Mrs. Sam Cassell, Lexington, Mrs. John Proctor, Indianapolis;Mrs. Henry Parker, Mrs. Jean Lyons;Mrs. William Martin,Mr. Mat Nichols, and five children are at the old home; Missess Mollie,Maggie and Annie, Messrs. O.B.; and Goebel Nichols.
The deceased had been in ill health since January and during her sufferings was cheerful and patient with true Christian fortitude. Two weeks before her death she was bedfast and knew the end must come, and she called all the members of her family about her and talked to them sweetly and comfortingly about the home she was going to prepare for them in the world beyond.
She asked that her burial should be at Hebron and that Rev.J. M.Baker and Rev.W. D. Moore should conduct the services, and her wishes were carried out to the letter.
Her obit states she was born on 10 Oct 1859. Her death certificate has 11 Oct.
