Sergeant Vernon Buhl was born in 1925 in Whitehall, Jefferson County, Montana and served with the 44th Bomber Group, Heavy as a tail gunner.

Vernon died October 7, 1944, and is listed as KIA. He is buried at American War Cemetery Margraten.

He was awarded the Air Medal and Purple Heart.
