Second Lieutenant Walter Gehrke was born in 1925 in Pleasant Ridge, Wayne County, Michigan and served with the 352nd Fighter Group as a pilot.

Walter died August 6, 1944, and is listed as KIA. He is buried at American War Cemetery Ardennes.

He was awarded the Air Medal and Purple Heart.
